The couple are locked in a bitter war on the social networking site following revelations the 29-year-old heiress has been having an affair with the rising US hip-hop star.
But lawyers have warned the increasingly acrimonious public spat could have a detrimental impact on either party?s potential divorce settlement. Even Electronica ? real name Timothy Elpadaro Thedford ? is tweeting about the row and has posted an image he took of Kate.
They say this creates a ?toxic combination? of immense family wealth and online sniping that could even rival the Paul McCartney v Heather Mills High Court conflict.
William Healing, a partner in Kingsley Napley and an expert in high value international family law court cases, said both sides in the Goldsmith battle would be well advised to let emotions calm down before starting proceedings.
He said: ?They are a very young couple, the first of the Twitter generation, and it is a fairly toxic combination of lots of money, use of the social media and third party (children) involvement.
?But because they are a very young couple with very young children they need a calm hand to steer them through.?
Mrs Goldsmith took to Twitter to launch an impassioned defence of her behaviour.
In a series of extraordinary tweets, she said her ?life had been saved? by the rapper, implied the story was being spun against her, accused her husband of cheating and being ?irrational?, and said she was responding to the ?vultures? taunting her.
She wrote: ?All of you should go home and question whether you are really in a position to judge and condemn and then get on with fixing your own lives. Ben in a rational mood would be the first to say that my devotion to my children is unshakeable. I am with them now, as I always am.
?I have been with my husband since I was 17 years old, my whole life from then until now has been dedicated to him and our children. Our marriage went bad a few years ago and none of you have any idea what I went through along with my husband. Then we separated for a while, anger and bitterness following that time led to a very one sided story being deliberately released in order to shame and hurt me.
?This is the darkest time of my life.? A later tweet said: ?As for Jay Electronica???he saved my life in many ways and I am eternally grateful to him.?
Many of the couple?s messages on Twitter have now been deleted.
Friends have leapt to her defence. One, Joy Bellfahy, wrote: ?Kate you are one of the most dedicated and wonderful Mothers I?ve ever known and I know a lot of them xxxx.?
Mr Goldsmith had previously branded her ?appalling? after police were called to their Kensington home following a row after she confessed the affair.
He also accused her of caring more about her reputation than her children, ridiculing her for hiring a PR firm to deal with the fall-out.
Mrs Goldsmith has also been accused of dragging her children into the row by posting a picture on Twitter of them disembarking from a private jet which was ?liked? by Jay Electronica.
The heiress is understood to have met the 35-year-old rapper last autumn.
She has been managing the star in her role as record producer, but Mr Goldsmith became suspicious of the time the pair were spending together.
Mr Goldsmith is on holiday in Sicily with his mother, Lady Annabel, while his wife is understood to be with the children in London at the family home, which has recently been put on the market for ?20?million.
The rapper?s family in New Orleans refused to discuss the relationship.
